Can you miss it? I mean the similar looking painting hung on the wall of a Corporate Office as you pass through the cordon of Reception Desk. A pack of horses running in full steam with their manes swayed by passing winds. And it suddenly pops up right in front of you! Excited and amazed? I am sure you feel an instant shot of energy! By the way, the painting is from a collection of our Vice Chairman Sir’s Treasure Trove.
The horse actually, is a symbol for velocity, vitality and beauty. It represents power like that of the wind, storm, fire and waves.People often admire the horse for its strength, speed and stamina. In addition to these qualities, it is reared because of its beauty and grace that is why it is considered an important animal in many cultures. Others associate the horse with power and wealth thus it is always associated with Kings, upper classes, emperors, the Nobility and aristocracy.
Horse in ancient Greece was given not only wings but immortality because it is able to recognize its owner and appears to return their love for it. It has then been a symbol of mutual respect. Symbol of friendship comes from its ability to love, trustworthiness, stamina and power. The war horse on the other hand was red while a black horse was the symbol of mourning. All in all, a horse remains the badge of strength, speed and intuitive intelligence.
As a Business Manager, I of course, see the horse as a sign of acceleration that is considered a must to remain alive and aggressive in today’s overly competitive market. The acceleration is required in almost everything starting from Project Completion, Asset Utilization, Productivity Improvement ( Man +Machine), Wastage Minimization, Cost of Funds, Product Development & Launches, Distribution, Processing of Documents, Market Competitive Purchases, Sales Force Cost, Quality Control, Customer Service, Strategy Shifts, Preparation and Review of Analytics and Reports, Performance Evaluation, Compliance and on top of everything Creating and Sustaining Significant Financial Results for the Enterprise.
However, speed or acceleration has its own sequential steps and meanings. Sometimes, it is a bit paradoxical too. I hope to clarify the topic in an hour long session to be held in the beginning of 2018.There will be at least four sessions to cover the key team members. This will be done on Saturdays only around the closing moments. This is actually a part of my Shorter Burst Leadership Programme (SBLP) designed and metaphorically code named as Marilyn Monroe Leadership Tower Series which is open to all with of course, a top down sequence. The Monroe Series captures nearly 100 such episodes. It deals with various leadership aspects to improve our understanding and competencies in meeting operational and strategic challenges. Our HR Department will inform you about the details once it is set to roll out. Participation is voluntary.Till then, let us get ready in anticipation of an intense 60 minutes deep diving engagement.
